That particular effect has always been an annoyance. I am a long, long term user of Nexus and since I install it on many PC's to have people discover the product, there are specific quirks that always annoyed me, namely:

- when opting to remove the sound for expand or hide the bar, you'd have to do it at least twice for it to take
- no distinct icons for restart windows and "shutdown windows"
- the "boing" effect (the twitching) coming back after I deactivated it in automatic hiding settings.

The two first points seem to be finally solved, thankfully! But the "Return of the son of the Boing!" situation remains. If we deactivate it, it should remain deactivated. We shouldn't have to do it twice every time we install the program...

Pretty please? :)

They were so annoying, yet I do not recall you ever pointing that out to me. In fact, this seems to be your first post here. :P

Why do people assume I MUST know about their issues and pet annoyances? Nothing pisses me off more than a bug that goes unreported - and therefore unfixed - for a long time because of this assumption.

The fact that you claim to have to do all of the above TWICE leads me to believe that it must be you doing something wrong. If it was an issue with the application itself, the setting would NEVER be saved.

So, here is what I think might be happening (correct me if I am wrong): you open Preferences, set the setting and then click the Exit button in Preferences without closing it first by pressing Ok to permanently apply the setting. Is that what is happening?

Another possibility would be the application silently crashing on exit the first time you configure it, since settings are normally only committed to disk when thee system has been idle for a little while or the application exits.

This is a behavior I have observed consistently across every Windows I have installed nexus on. It's always baffled me.

Ah, you do not describe how you exit Preferences, and I think that *might* the issue. Applying is not the same as pressing Ok. Applying acts more like a "Preview", settings are only made effective when you press OK. If you press Cancel to close Preferences or the X button in the panel, any changes you've made or applied since you opened Preferences are undone.

If that is it, I am not against renaming the "Apply" button to "Preview"
