@Jorge.

I have basically tried everything. I downloaded the replacement file you put up and installed.
I chose one of my themes to rename it to and point the correct environment absolute path to it as well and made sure it was in the right place (it was).

I even did DiskAdvs=false (as the annoyed last resort attempt)so it displayed your default skin instead of mine and had default colors. No disk displays under the names you put up or emailed me. I have now effectively turned everything on and off. Zero bitmap disk replacements show with the names WsDiskDrive.png, WsDiskRing.png and WsDiskRingFG.png. I did =false to every color as well - NADA.
So what am I doing wrong???? Sure I can import via preferences globally but I could do that before and that is of no use to me.

yes I tried one at a time on and off including icon and overlay... nada. That's an hour of my life I won't get back.
Cheers

P.S. ShowIcon=false still shows the icon and resize icon (smaller or larger proportionally) does not change either. I expected the larger to be ignored, but not the smaller.

Well... you're going to slap your forehead when you read this, but how were you expecting it to work if I haven't uploaded the new beta that supports this functionality yet?

That is an understatement.

I was right about one thing though :)

@JORGE

Also this is what I meant in the skinning department for the extra skin. I know you aren't interested but my point was that if the user selected only one drive they can potentially get something far more ornate than what the current configuration allows.
This was done VERY quickly in under 5mins and I wouldn't live with it, but the extra file for a single drive also allows for everything to be larger. The graphic I had already done in advance.

I did not write the advertising spool "Eye candy for your desktop". Just saying...
Cheers

*NB - It would only work for one drive because if it went that large for 10 or more drives it would have space issues and even if it didn't, I know I wouldn't use it, it would take up too much real estate for more than one drive. the skinner would also have the options like other modules to simply supply a graphic and the no icon at all with only the disk information selected in the container. That won't work for multiple disks, again, too much real estate and a pile of larger text that nobody wants to decipher if there are ten drives or more. What you have done already more than does the job. The single container adds an additional eye candy option.

What you haven't realized yet is that the current configuration ALREADY allows you to do something far more ornate by playing with tile areas, pad areas and transparency, you just currently have your mind trapped inside the "box" of the demo/default themes.

Furthermore, you seem to be forgetting about the WsDiskOverlay.png feature too lol

Anyway, wait for the new beta before you start attempting different stuff. Just tying up some loose ends here.

@Jorge...
With the read/write, I gather it is possible to use two gauges? Did I get that right? Like In/Out for Network? I figure it just is not enabled as yet? Or did I get that wrong? I know there's a multi, so just asking. doesn't hurt to ask.
So the multi png graphics might likely be WsDiskMultiR.png and WsDiskMultiW.png and gauge png's WsDiskGaugeR.png and WsDiskGaugeW.png?

Yes, you can use gauges, but keep in mind that gauges are normally used with fixed scales (e.g. 0-100), and the maximum scale value for read/write bytes per second varies with current through output, so I am not sure using a gauge for read/write bytes per second is a good idea.

You can also use bars, and that would probably make more sense, especially if you use the text option to write the current max scale value next to it.

Yes I get that with bars. Gauges would jump and show spikes in R/W surely? That was my thinking.

Of course. Everything you can do by editing the config files you will be able to do from the GUI - with the added advantage that you will be protected from entering illegal values.

Excellent. :)

Pictures sometimes tell a better story...

The idea (I did this very quickly)... Was to use a circular multi in tandem with the gauge. It gives both at once. It would be a simple matter of aligning the gauge and the meter to the position of where the graphics are.
It would actually give a feeling of a more realistic meter too. I hope this makes sense? Sorry about the shoddiness of the graphic but it does give a rough idea. To the right would be the container for the info.

Anyway - when you release the update I'll try a whole lot of things... I am sure my successes and failures will be quite equal. :)

Looks really nice...

One thing I have been thinking about a lot lately... so, we have the ability to lock a module's theme, right? That will prevent any changes to both the iconic and the desktop version of that module as you switch to a different global theme....

But I have been thinking that the ability to lock only the iconic version of a module - but not the desktop version - might also be useful...

My idea is to prevent a theme from, for instance, changing the colorization settings of the iconic disk meter, or change the color of the digital clock, or change the color(s) of the Net, RAM and CPU meters - all of which can be pretty annoying if you are not expecting it - while at the same time still allowing the theme to display its version of the desktop module.

In fact I am not even sure "lock iconic theme" is the right expression here since this would/should IMO also prevent the iconic module from using any icons provided by the theme, so perhaps something more like "prevent themes from making changes to the default iconic version of the modules".

This could be either a global or a per-module setting. One problem with doing it per-module is the risk of getting users confused with the 'lock theme' setting, on the other hand it would give users a more granular control...

What do you guys think of the idea?

Betas of v26.1 are out:

Winstep Xtreme beta:
https://www.winstep.net/xtreme-beta.zip

Nexus Ultimate beta:
https://www.winstep.net/ultimate-beta.zip

This is a beta and MUST be installed ON TOP of a full v25.9 OR LATER installation. Do NOT uninstall anything first, just exit all running Winstep applications and run the beta setup file.

There is no need to backup your settings first, but it does not hurt if you do either.

####

This should be the last beta before the official release...

This version mostly added support for theme icons for the disk meter as well as adding "used space %" as a third graphic option.

Here's the first attempt. I used the BONSAI theme. Yes I have tested the Horizontal as well. I only have to fix the graph and I think I can use my own graphic? Yes? No? for the graph i.e.? naming convention is relevant on page 15?? :)
If you think it will change before official release please say so and I will wait, else I will go onto updating all of my themes which is no small task (There are over 50 now)
cheers

and the CANDY theme - the possibilities are just beginning..

I will continue with the released version. I still need to learn more so I can move away from my themes looking too static. I notice some 'flashing' occasionally too when changing themes... probably my settings.

I read everything you said above and I can see what you are saying and it makes sense.
Honestly, and I think NEXTER made a similar comment quite a while back, that the ability to lock graphics (not icons) per theme would be very useful. The logic in this is that they will always return in the same identical positions with the same identical graphics and the user if they did not lock it can change whatever? :)
